It is fixed to the mouthpiece by the ligature, and has a reed shape in the bottom part. This cap cannot be used with the reed attached on the mouthpiece.

This cap is tailored for Theo Wanne mouthpieces with a reed fixed on them. Such an accessory is therefore very useful for doublers and musicians who need a cap while playing on bandstand for example, and fore all players who want to leave the reed on the mouthpiece without damaging the reed.
Theo Wanne provides a line of bite pads of different densites to allow musicians to enjoy an individualized feling and an optimum comfort. Players can opt for a traditional, dense, hard-rubber feel, or for a soft plush feel.
These bite pads fit all Theo Wanne Mouthpieces except the original AMMA (serial #s A through 4A).

Hard bite pads allow for a hard rubber effect. It is both hard enough to prevent the teeth from sliding on the mouthpiece, and soft enough to absorb vibrations. Standard (medium) bite pads provide a good overall effect, and teeeth remain at the right place on the mouthpiece. It is the bite pad sold with all Theo Wanne mouthpieces.
