This tool was designed to allow musicians determining the tip opening size (which is the distance between the reed and the mouthpiece rail) of any mouthpiece. Usually, the real tip opening size is different from the one marked on the mouthpiece. This size influences the playing: having a bigger tip opening means the player needs more air to feel the horn and less air with a smaller tip. Such a device is therefore usefull for retail stores and for musicians to compare models and sizes, and find a comfortable mouthpiece.
- made of gold anodized solid billet aluminum
- Includes a digital gauge and the accurate tip (allows for visibility of the tip rail).
- Millimeter measurements on the side of the gauge measure distance from the tip rail for plotting baffle and rail measurements.
This set aims at measuring the facing curve of any saxophone or clarinet mouthpiece. A very convenient tool gathering US and metric numbering system.
- includes all sizes needed to measure the mouthpiece tip opening
-US and Metric numbering.
-big gauge included (3mm, 118")
-designed to be used with one of the glass gauges
